I’m Kim, and this is my chief craft room supervisor, Miss Rosa. If you’ve ever wondered where Rosa’s Heart Handmade Cards comes from, it was inspired by Miss Rosa herself—a sweet rescue cat with two perfect black heart-shaped patches in her fur. She’s almost always snoozing nearby while I’m cutting, scoring, colouring and creating!
10 Things About Me: The Paper Crafter Edition
Current Mood/Obsession: Soft pastel colour palettes, Copic blending, fun fold cards, and playing with my Silhouette Cameo 5.
My Craft Room Essential: A hot cup of Timmies coffee, my Silhouette Cameo, Bazzill cardstock, and Miss Rosa fast asleep nearby.
Favourite Style: Soft, romantic pastel colour palettes and dimensional papercrafts with plenty of layers and detail.
My Holy Grail Tool: My scoring tool for crisp score lines, because precision is everything! A close second is my Silhouette Cameo, which I’ve been learning to use more and more over the last year.
Go-To Stamp Lines: Whimsical digital stamps from Polkadoodles (of course!) that let me bring sweet characters to life. All Dressed Up Stamps and digital clipart are also huge favourites of mine right now!
My Colour Happy Place: A soft blend of lavenders, mint greens, blush pinks, and delicate blues.
Loyalty to Adhesive: I am a diehard Sookwang double-sided tape girl.
Studio Soundtrack: I can’t craft in silence! While I’m colouring or papercrafting, I usually have Aliens, Terminator, or Underworld playing in the background.
My Signature Technique: If there’s one unmistakable signature feature on my cards, it’s the mastery of rich, dimensional layers—and lots of them!
My Motto: When in doubt, cover it with an embellishment! I make mistakes constantly—a crooked sentiment, a smudge of ink... But one thing I’ve learned over the years is that there is almost nothing that can't be fixed. A sequin here, an enamel dot there, or a die-cut butterfly over that accidental Copic blob. Mistake? No, just a design opportunity!
